DICOTA visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation on September 3, 2026. We were honored to be hosted by Honorable Salvator Mbilinyi, the Director of the Diaspora Engagement and Opportunities Division.
During the meeting, DICOTA President Benjamin Kaimukilwa, among other topics, asked for updates on the Special Status. He was assured that the matter is in its final stages and should be resolved soon.
Additionally, Mr. Mbilinyi shared the ministry’s roadmap, which provides detailed information about opportunities for diaspora engagement. Through the Division of Diaspora Engagement and Opportunities, the ministry believes collaboration between the diaspora community and the ministry can yield significant results. He encouraged the diaspora to be proactive and engage openly with the ministry through established channels.
