The DICOTA Young Leader Scholarship is designed to award Tanzanians studying in the U.S. for their academic and leadership achievements. This program provides educational opportunities to promising young Tanzanian leaders committed to serving their communities and country.
The scholarship award is $1000 (1 recipient)
Open Enrollment Season:
June 1st to August 1st, 2024
Eligibility Requirements:
- Be enrolled full-time in a 2-year college, 4-year university, or a graduate school program
- Be enrolled at a recognized 2 to 4-year college or university located in the U.S.
- Write an essay of 700-1000 words addressing the following: DICOTA’s core mission is to connect, empower, & inspire Tanzanians in the Diaspora. In what ways do you think you have embodied that mission through your work? In addition, discuss your future career goals, after graduation, and in what ways you plan to add value to your community and the world at large.
- Have clearly demonstrated leadership skills.
- Applicants DO NOT need to be members of DICOTA.
- Open to all majors.
- Have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher.
Selection Process:
Scholarship recipients will be selected by the DICOTA Scholarship Selection Committee. This committee is comprised of university-level administrators, corporate recruiters, and leaders from the communities in which DICOTA operates.
DICOTA will make payments directly to the designated school. Payments are not transferable to other academic institutions.
