Why JPM should intervene in Zanzibar impasse now

Mwalimu Julius Nyerere, sometime in the early 1960s, is quoted as saying that if it were in his ability, he would have thrown the Zanzibar islands far off into the sea, presumably to insulate Tanganyika from the archipelago’s frequent political turmoil. This may probably have been one of the reasons for forming the union between Zanzibar and Tanganyika on April 26, 1964 only a few months after the islands had staged a revolution on January 12, 1964.
