DICOTA Executive Committee (EC) Election – 2023
Dear Tanzanian Diaspora Member:
The Diaspora Council of Tanzanians in America (DICOTA) is pleased to announce the 2023 election of the officers, which will take place on March 10th and March 12th 2023. Any active DICOTA member who participated in the recent DICOTA Board of Trustees election and any member who will pay the membership fee by Feb 28th, 2023 is eligible to vote. Any individual who’s had at least 6 months of active membership during the last two years (March 12st, 2021 to present) is eligible to run and/or be nominated for Executive Committee positions. As per the DICOTA Articles of Incorporation, all officers are required to be in good legal and immigration standing. To renew/ initiate your membership click Membership.
The election process will have the following timeline:

| Zoom Interview for President and Secretary and other candidates | Mar 19th, 2023 |

| Voter Registration Deadline | Mar 30 2023 |
| Election Days (Electronic Voting Only) | Mar 31st – Apr 2nd 2023 |
| Declaration of Election Results | Apr 3rd 2023 |

Candidates may nominate themselves or can consent to be nominated by other members of the Tanzanian Diaspora.
The Officers shall be elected after the annual meeting of the Members for a term of two (2) years. Officers shall be allowed to stand for election for a maximum of two (2) consecutive two-year terms and may be re-elected after being away for one (1) term. Vacancy in any office may be filled by a majority vote of the Board of Trustees for the unexpired portion of the term. The Board of Trustees shall also have the authority to appoint such temporary or acting Officers as may be necessary during the temporary absence or disability of the regular officers. The election will take place on March 10th and March 12th 2023 via electronic ballot using the Balloteer, a Web-based software service for conducting and hosting elections online. Paper ballots will not be available. All votes must be submitted using the Balloteer web link that will be provided to all dues-paying/active members.
The future of the DICOTA is in the hands of its elected officials. It is important that you exercise your opinion at this time.
