Join the Aspen Institute Diaspora Investment Alliance (DIA) at the inaugural DIAspora Investment Forum for East Africa. The Forum will be part of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation’s (OPIC) EXPANDING HORIZONS: A Workshop for Small Businesses Entering International Markets. The workshop is an opportunity to learn about the OPIC and other federal and local resources available to help firms take advantage of international opportunities for their business. OPIC experts will discuss the financing and insurance products it makes available. Trade specialists from partners including the U.S. Department of Commerce’s U.S. Commercial Service and the Small Business Administration’s Office of International Trade will also be on-hand to talk about their programs.
In addition to presentations, the event will also make available one-on-one appointments for attendees to meet directly with presenters to discuss specific needs. DIA will also host panels on East Africa regional investment environment and opportunities, franchising, and youth and entrepreneurship, as well as a diaspora networking reception.
Guest speakers include KenInvest, Kenya Commercial Bank Group CEO Joshua Oigara, the USAID East Africa Trade and Investment Hub, StartUpAfrica, and Chief Concept Officer and member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of CFWshops Michael Seid.
